To answer this question, understanding the relationship of translation formats and user file definition is needed.
1. Translation Formats can only have only ONE user file definition.
2. But a user file definition (UFD) may have more than one translation format associated to it.
3. So whenever you open a translation format, you are effectively opening the UFD at the same time.
4. To make sure that you do no affect the UFD when opening a translation format, make sure you click READ ONLY when this prompt comes up.
If your open the UFD in update mode, the compiler will assume that you have updated the UFD, hence triggering the compilation of all translation formats related to it.
5. When an error occurs (time out, connection errors), even though you initially set the UFD to read only, there is no way for the recovery session to know what transpired in the session when the error occurred. Hence when you RECOVER, the compiler will assume that you intended to change both the translation format and UFD. When recompiling the translation format it will trigger the recompile of all other translation formats related to that UFD.
