The Challenge: When creating inbound 846 in source document, why is that the LIN segment only gives one set of Qualifier/ID not like the older maps that come up to 31 elements?
My vendor sends me the LIN segment with 3 sets of Qualifier/Element in 846 like below:
LIN*1*UP*123456789012*VN*ABC-1234-XYZ*MG*78787588888-B~
Where can I put the second and third set of qualifier/ID set? Am I missing something?
The Analysis: By default, LIN 2.0 thru LIN 31.0 is initially presented as a Qualifier Element Set. Yes, 15 sets of qualifier(0235)/ID(0234) pairs.
There are advantages and disadvantages of saying "I do" or "Un Do" to element sets.
The Solution: If you decide that you need to undo the element set: [Right click] on the "Qualifier Element Set"> [Undo Element Set]. This will expose the array of element sets. The number of sets varies. For LIN it will be 15 sets. PO1 and IT1 have 10 sets.
Try to consider the strategy of using the element sets and making the element sets "swap free".
