The Challenge: Where does the mapper confirm licensing? Sometimes, I am not allowed to use it and am ask to try later.
The Solution: The mapper checks for licenses in the host system where the software is installed. When the mapper is initiated, it will check if there are seats available. It communicates with the background applications:
How do we start/end these jobs:
SEALMS/STRLMSTCP - to start SEALMS/ENDLMSTCP - to end
How do you check Licenses:
SEALMS/WRKSEALIC
If you have multiple instances of the software, you can centralize the number of seats and have the mapper point it to the licensing system via the jwalk.ini. This is only used for license authorization, the iSeries you are logging into is based on the ODBC driver you are logged in to. So you can purchase extra seats put it into one instance or ask users to point it the next iSeries if the first one runs out or hits a maximum users violation.
