The Challenge: To be able to adapt to the market trends, the company is implementing Drop Ship ordering. Having EDI already setup, we just need to divert the "Drop Ship" orders from the lot. The existence of the "MR" REF segment is distinctive for this kind of order. It is also noted that this segment occurs only once in this kind of transaction.

The Solution: ELEMENT ROUTING - as the name implies, the software looks into the element to see which trading partner relationship the document matches to.

a. After creating a new Trading Partner Address book entry, copy the current TPR for this Document - Put the new TP here.
b. A new translation format might be necessary, enter it here.
c. Answer "Y" for Element Routing. This is the first thing that makes the TPR unique from the TPR copied from.
d. This will remain the same (This is the assumption and the reason why we are doing this).
e. Enter segment to be checked or F4 for prompting.
f. Enter the value of the element to be checked that when true qualifies the document to be diverted.
This is the XML counterpart.
g. Compile the new Trading Partner Relationship.

- A positive match cannot be achieved to check for the existence of REF-IA for the first example. The software will decide based on the first occurrence of the segment being checked (it will NOT loop through it).
- There could be another TPR checking the same segment checking but a different value.
- There could be another TPR checking the a different segment.
