Symptoms:
Can I override the External Conversion Tables using *DDMF and or Library List manipulation?
Diagnosis:
External Conversion Tables are driven by an RPG Program that is created as soon as you leave the definition. The External Table name will be the name of the RPG Program somewhere in the *PGMLIB. The translation format calls this program passing a single parameter - the value to be converted.
Prescription:
1. Library List : You can move the file to another library (just make sure that you load this library when running the translation format referencing the externa conversion table. It should be the same file name as the one when you created the RPG Program.)
2. DDMF - you can move the file to another box. This time the file name may be different for as long as the DDMF definition in the has the same name as the one in the RPG Program and the DDMF definition has the file name in the remote box.
There is no secret - just a procedure. If level checks occur this is how to check:
a. DSPPGMREF on the External Tale Name (RPG Program).
b. DSPFD on the "real file" and check the record format levels.
